Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has paid tribute to his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, following her death at the age of 100.
In a Facebook post, Dr Mahathir shared a photograph of his late wife accompanied by the words “Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un”. The post also included her birth and death dates, July 12, 1926 to Sept 28, 2026.
Dr Siti Hasmah died at 9.20am at the National Heart Institute (IJN), with her death confirmed by their son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir.
Dr Mahathir and Dr Siti Hasmah married in 1956 and had four biological children — Marina, Mirzan, Mokhzani and Mukhriz — as well as three adopted children.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah also conveyed their condolences to the family and prayed for Dr Siti Hasmah to be placed among the righteous.
