Matthew McConaughey has revealed why he turned down the role of Joel in HBO’s The Last of Us.
The actor said the project was “really good”, but it was not the right fit for him at the time.
McConaughey said he was focusing more on writing and leadership roles and was not actively acting when he was approached.
He also considered the long-term commitment that could come with a successful TV series.
The role of Joel eventually went to Pedro Pascal.
