Schools may be closed if the Air Pollutant Index, or API, exceeds 200, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has said.
Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said the ministry has guidelines to protect students during haze conditions.
He said schools will follow the standard operating procedures based on the API readings and instructions from the authorities.
The ministry will continue monitoring the situation and take the necessary action to ensure the safety and health of students and school staff.
