A server room belonging to the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) at the Gombak District Police Headquarters (IPD) was about 50 per cent destroyed in a fire yesterday.
However, no fatalities or injuries were reported, and authorities have ruled out any elements of foul play at the scene.
Gombak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ibrahim Husin said the District Control Centre received information on the incident at 4.04pm.
Following the alert, the Gombak IPD Control Centre contacted the Fire and Rescue Department for assistance.
The Selayang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) responded to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control by about 4.50pm, he said in a statement.
Initial investigations found that the fire was confined to the traffic unit’s server room.
Preliminary findings by fire officers indicated that about 50 per cent of the room was destroyed in the blaze.
“No casualties were reported, and there were no elements of crime or sabotage. The fire was fully extinguished by firefighters,” he said.
