Enforcement officers from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry seized 1,823kg of subsidised packet cooking oil during a raid at a used cooking oil collection premises in Alor Setar.
The raid was carried out following information from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board. A 31-year-old local man, who claimed to be the owner of the premises, was detained after failing to produce a permit to store or a licence to sell the controlled item.

The seized cooking oil and other items were valued at RM5,457.50.
The man was later released on police bail after his statement and documentation were completed.
The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
