The alleged brutal killing of a pet dog in Taman Teluk Gedung Indah, Port Klang, has sparked public outrage and concern.
According to reports, a group of individuals tied a rope tightly around the dog’s neck before repeatedly striking its head with an iron rod, resulting in its death.
Malaysian Animal Welfare Association president Kalaivanan Ravichandran condemned the incident, saying that even if the dog was unlicensed, it should not have been killed in such a cruel and inhumane manner.
He also called for an investigation into claims that two Klang City Council officers were present during the incident, questioning whether the act had taken place with the council’s approval.
The allegation that police officers told the dog’s owner that no action could be taken because the dog did not have a licence has also drawn criticism.
A video of the incident, shared on social media alongside the family’s emotional reaction, has attracted widespread attention, with many calling for justice for the dog.
Police in Klang Selatan have since opened an investigation into the case.
