United States (US) Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed to Fox News that American forces had conducted strikes in southern Iran, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
“US forces conducted self-defence strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces. Targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to emplace mines. US Central Command continues to defend our forces while using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire,” CENTCOM spokesperson Tim Hawkins said, as quoted by Fox News journalist Jennifer Griffin on X.
Earlier, Reuters reported explosions in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas.
