A 43-year-old salesman has been charged with seriously injuring a motorcyclist in a road rage incident along the Federal Highway motorcycle lane last week.

Azmi Jantan pleaded guilty after the charge was read before Judge Fatimah Zahari at the Shah Alam Sessions Court, according to Harian Metro.

He was accused of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a 45-year-old victim by slashing him with a cleaver at Km14.6 of the Federal Highway motorcycle lane near Section 13 at about 8.19am on June 11.

The offence falls under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment, as well as a fine or whipping upon conviction.

The court granted bail of RM15,000 and ordered Azmi, who was unrepresented, to report to the police once a month.
