Police Raise Alarm Over ‘Zombie Drug’ Spreading Among Students

Authorities have raised concerns over the spread of drug-laced vape devices in entertainment venues and some schools, warning that even limited use can lead to severe addiction.

Vapes containing fentanyl, commonly known as the “zombie drug” or “piao piao,” have been detected in circulation, posing a growing threat to youths and students.

Penang Police Chief Azizee Ismail said these new synthetic drugs are particularly dangerous because they are not easily detected through standard urine tests.

He warned that school students and teenagers are especially vulnerable, and that the false belief that users can avoid detection is increasing the risk of drug abuse among young people.
