Over 600 Residents Affected as Floodwaters Rise in Kampung Long Bemang

More than 600 residents from 103 households in Kampung Long Bemang have been affected by flooding following continuous rainfall that has battered the area since yesterday afternoon.

According to a report by the Long Bemang Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, flooding began at approximately 3:45 pm. As of 6:44 am today, water levels had risen to more than 0.6 metres and were continuing to increase.

Overcast weather conditions have raised concerns that floodwaters may continue to rise if the rain persists.

It is understood that one of the main causes of the flooding is the relentless rainfall over the past several days, coupled with the location of some homes situated close to the river.

Despite the flooding affecting hundreds of residents, no evacuation to temporary relief centres has been carried out so far, with residents remaining in their respective homes.
