Exco Wanita UMNO, Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid, has criticised parties for playing on public sentiment and creating fear during election campaigns, including the ongoing Johor state election.
She said such tactics distract from what voters truly want to hear and focus on.
According to her, voters make decisions based on who can govern effectively, grow the economy, safeguard welfare, and deliver a better future.
“Don’t insult the intelligence of voters by assuming they can only be influenced through propaganda and scare tactics. Do politics with facts, contest with ideas, and win through public trust,” she said in a Facebook post.
Nurulhidayah was responding to reports quoting opposition leaders who claimed Johor would be “ruined” if Barisan Nasional (BN) returned to power at the national level.
She also referenced media reports suggesting that issues involving former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and 1MDB were dominating Pakatan Harapan’s campaign narrative.
She added that Johor voters are not easily swayed by fear and do not vote under pressure.
“They vote for leaders who are willing to work, carry responsibility, and face reality,” she said.
