Iran footballer Ramin Rezaeian dismissed questions about boos during his country’s national anthem following Iran’s 2-2 draw with New Zealand in their World Cup opener.
“If there is any problem between us, it is our business, it is none of your business,” Rezaeian told reporters when asked about the reaction from sections of the crowd.
The match took place amid protests by members of the Iranian-American community in Los Angeles, with some spectators booing during the anthem and displaying pre-1979 Iranian flags.
Rezaeian, who scored and assisted in the match, declined to comment further on the controversy, saying the team was focused on football.
