Malaysia will increase the minimum monthly wage from RM1,700 to RM2,000 starting June 2027, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.
The new rate will be exempted for micro, small and medium enterprises with annual sales revenue below RM50 million, according to the announcement.
The increase is expected to benefit more than four million workers nationwide.
The government also plans to introduce an initial minimum monthly salary of RM2,500 for semi-skilled workers and graduates.
