Barisan Nasional (BN) will not interfere in issues involving the royal institution or the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) in Negeri Sembilan ahead of the upcoming state polls, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also UMNO president, said the matter was reaffirmed during discussions with state party leaders as part of election preparations.
“We will not interfere in legal matters, especially those involving the royal institution and DKU in Negeri Sembilan. We must remain outside that scope,” he told reporters after attending the 2025 Excellence Service and Appreciation Ceremony for the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) held here today. Also present was Deputy Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang.
He said BN’s immediate focus is to strengthen unity among leaders and members at all levels in preparation for the polls.
Ahmad Zahid also noted that BN expects a different political environment compared to previous state elections.
“During the 15th general state polls, BN cooperated with component parties in Pakatan Harapan (PH), but that arrangement will not continue this time.
What is important now is unity among all leaders and members at every level to face the election,” he said.
The 16th Negeri Sembilan state polls are set for August 1, involving all 36 state assembly seats.
