Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is undertaking a two-day official visit to Malaysia aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest between the two countries.
The visit, made at the invitation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, marks Rahman’s first official overseas trip since assuming office as Prime Minister in February 2026.
Rahman arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 8.33pm on Sunday aboard a commercial flight, accompanied by his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman and Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman.
Upon arrival at the Bunga Raya Complex, KLIA, he was accorded a static guard of honour by the First Battalion Royal Ranger Regiment, led by Captain Mohd Masrur Hidayat Masri.
On Monday morning at about 9am, Rahman was given an official welcome ceremony at the Perdana Putra Complex in Putrajaya.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received Rahman upon arrival, with both national anthems played during the ceremony.
Rahman then inspected a guard of honour mounted by three officers and 103 personnel from the First Battalion Royal Ranger Regiment, led by Major Nur Ahmad Zaim Zahari.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, among other senior leaders.
Following the official welcome, both leaders are scheduled to hold bilateral talks at the Perdana Putra Complex.
