UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has repeated his stand that he will not contest in the upcoming Melaka state election if Barisan Nasional works with Pakatan Harapan.
Akmal said he would rather stand by his principles than hold a position as an elected representative.
His statement came after Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the coalition was open to discussions on possible cooperation with Barisan Nasional for the Melaka election.
Akmal said he had made the same position clear earlier during the Keluar Sekejap podcast.
He also expressed hope that Melaka would support BN, as he referred to political developments in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
The direction of BN’s cooperation and seat arrangements for the Melaka state election is still under discussion.
