DBKL Unveils Artistic Public Toilets Across Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has launched the “Kuala Lumpur Artistic Toilets” initiative, aimed at transforming public toilets into attractive spaces featuring art, innovative design and green elements.

Under the “Art in the City” programme, DBKL collaborated with local young architects to develop its first public toilet at Plaza Batik, complete with facilities for persons with disabilities (PwD).

The initiative will be expanded to Jalan Masjid India and Jalan Saloma. The public toilet planned for Jalan Saloma will be fully funded by private company Perini Ceramics.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said collaboration between the government and the private sector can accelerate urban development and improve public amenities.

She said the project reflects how strategic partnerships can help create a more attractive, inclusive and sustainable city environment.

DBKL is also planning to work closely with the private sector to upgrade street furniture, bus stops and public murals across the capital as part of its broader urban beautification efforts.
