Two siblings were killed after allegedly falling from an apartment building in the Tampoi area on Sunday morning.
In the incident, which occurred at about 8am, the victims — an eight-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy — were believed to have fallen and were later found unconscious on the seventh floor area of the building.
According to a source, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene, while her brother succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at hospital.
Johor Bahru North District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Radin Ramlan Radin Taha confirmed the incident when contacted.
He said investigations are ongoing and a media statement will be issued in the near future.
Meanwhile, a woman who claimed to be among the witnesses shared her account of the heartbreaking incident on Instagram, saying she could still remember hearing a loud impact.
“Ya Allah, it is so heartbreaking. I can still remember the loud sound — ‘bammm’.
“At 7.57am, a boy and a girl fell from the 12th floor onto the seventh floor near the swimming pool at the apartment block where I live,” she wrote.
The witness initially stated that the girl died upon arrival at the hospital while the boy was being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). However, authorities later confirmed that both children had died.
