A disciplinary investigation has been launched against a female police officer following a viral video showing her allegedly insulting local residents during a trip to China, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed.
The officer, who is also a social media influencer, was seen in the video making inappropriate remarks in a public place while covering her nose, sparking widespread backlash online, including reports in foreign media.
Mohd Khalid said the officer is required to adhere to police conduct guidelines both domestically and abroad, even when off duty and not in uniform.
He added that she will remain in service pending the outcome of the investigation.
In a separate development, the IGP also addressed a meeting of the Malaysian Retired Senior Police Officers Association, urging the government to review the “hero allowance” rate for fallen officers’ dependents, which has reportedly remained unchanged for 17 years.
