Brazil defeated Haiti 3-0 in their World Cup clash today, with Matheus Cunha scoring twice and Vinicius Jr also finding the net to help the five-time world champions move to the top of Group C on four points.
The result also confirmed Haiti as the first team to be eliminated from contention for a place in the knockout stages of the tournament.
Morocco, who earlier beat Scotland 1-0, are also on four points, while Scotland sit third in the group with three points.
Brazil took the lead in the 23rd minute when Vinicius’ effort was parried by Haiti goalkeeper Johny Placide. Hannes Delcroix’s attempted clearance then struck Cunha and crossed the goal line.
Cunha doubled Brazil’s advantage in the 36th minute, racing onto a pass from Vinicius before firing a powerful shot into the top corner.
Vinicius made it 3-0 in first-half stoppage time, expertly controlling a long pass from Lucas Paqueta before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper.
Brazil eased off after the break, with goalkeeper Alisson Becker rarely called into action as Carlo Ancelotti’s side comfortably saw out the victory.
