SPRM Begins Information Collection on Viral Structure Case

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) says it will first gather information before opening a formal investigation into an alleged illegally built four-storey structure in Sungai Tekali, Hulu Langat.

SPRM Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman said the agency has taken note of the viral allegations and will carry out preliminary information collection as part of its initial assessment.

The issue gained public attention after claims surfaced on social media alleging that the building was constructed unlawfully by foreigners. The matter was further highlighted by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Watch (MCW), which urged authorities to take firm action.

MCW also called for a comprehensive investigation involving multiple enforcement agencies, including the Immigration Department, police, fire services, and the district office. The group noted that the premises had previously been raided in a joint operation last year involving the detention of foreign nationals.

Authorities have also called for transparency on the building’s status to avoid speculation and racial tension, while questions remain over why the issue has reportedly persisted despite earlier enforcement action.
