A 15-year-old girl accused of stabbing her schoolmate at a secondary school in Banting was brought before the Telok Datuk Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
A police vehicle carrying the teenager arrived at the court complex at 8.33am. The suspect, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle, was escorted into the courtroom by several police officers.
Dressed entirely in black with a hood covering her head, the juvenile was led into the courtroom under tight security.
Security at the court complex was heightened, with members of the media barred from entering the compound. Access was restricted to individuals with official court business.
As the accused is a minor, the proceedings are being held behind closed doors to protect her identity, with attendance limited to parties directly involved in the case.
The teenager is expected to appear before Magistrate Maslinda Selamat. Her four-day remand order, obtained by police for investigations, expires today.
The victim suffered serious injuries in the alleged knife attack, including injuries to her lungs, after the incident at about 9.30am on Monday. She remains hospitalised and is receiving treatment.
Police previously revealed that the suspect had reportedly been absent from school for the past eight months and had been studying from home while undergoing medical treatment for health-related issues.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said preliminary investigations found that the suspect entered the school compound after noticing the main gate had been left open. He said the knife was concealed inside a bag she was carrying.
According to police, the teenager is believed to have been experiencing emotional stress and depression. Authorities also confirmed that she is registered as a person with disabilities (PwD) under the autism category.
Shazeli added that the suspect had previously been involved in an incident in which she fell from a school building late last year.
The case has attracted widespread public attention as investigations into the motive behind the alleged attack continue.
