A woman who accidentally left a bag containing valuables worth $32,000 (RM101,000) on a bus in Singapore was reunited with her belongings on the same day, thanks to the quick actions of transport staff and an honest passenger.
In a Facebook post, SBS Transit said the woman, identified only as K, realized she had left her bag after getting off Service 853 at a bus stop in Ang Mo Kio.
She then went to the Ang Mo Kio Interchange and asked for help while in tears.
Although SBS Transit does not operate Service 853, Senior Assistant Interchange Supervisor Nithyananthan Palne, also known as Nathan, immediately contacted Tower Transit Singapore to help trace the missing bag.
Within 20 minutes, Tower Transit confirmed that another passenger had found the bag and handed it over.
SBS Transit said K did not have any money with her to travel to collect the bag. Senior Interchange Supervisor Alex Tan then booked and paid for a taxi to Yishun Interchange so she could retrieve her belongings.
Two days later, K and her daughter called to thank Nathan and Alex. They also invited them to a wedding in Kuala Lumpur.
A week later, K returned to Ang Mo Kio Interchange to thank both staff members in person and reimbursed Alex for the taxi fare he had paid.
