Thai Bar Manager Allegedly Shaves Woman’s Head Over RM7,200 Bill

A bar manager in Thailand has sparked public backlash after allegedly shaving a young woman’s head over an unpaid bill of up to 60,000 baht (about RM7,278).

A video circulating on TikTok reportedly showed the manager shaving the woman’s hair before taking her to a police station, where a report was lodged against her.

According to reports, the bar claimed the woman had used a fake identity card to enter the premises on Aug 25 and could not settle the bill.

The woman allegedly agreed to have her hair sold for 3,000 baht (about RM364) to settle part of the matter, with the hair supposedly intended for charity.

However, her mother disputed the bar’s version of events, claiming her daughter had offered to pay the bill by instalments but was refused.

She also alleged that her daughter had suffered physical injuries and planned to lodge a police report.

A representative from a Thai social advocacy foundation meanwhile described the shaving as excessive and questioned whether the woman’s agreement could be considered genuine consent under the circumstances.

The bar manager has reportedly offered to apologize to the woman’s family and provide compensation.
