‘Pasoori’ Makes History as First Pakistani Music Video to Hit 1 Billion YouTube Views

Pakistani hit song ‘Pasoori’ has made history after becoming the first music video produced in Pakistan to surpass one billion views on YouTube.

The song, performed by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, was released as part of Coke Studio Pakistan’s Season 14 in February 2022.

The Punjabi-language track quickly became a global sensation, reaching No. 3 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 and becoming the platform’s most-streamed Pakistani song in 2022.

It has since inspired numerous covers and adaptations around the world and was featured in the Disney+ Marvel series ‘Ms. Marvel’.

The song also received a Coke Studio Africa remix featuring Nigerian artists, while an Indian adaptation, ‘Pasoori Nu’, appeared in the 2023 Bollywood film Satyaprem Ki Katha.

Coke Studio Pakistan celebrated the milestone on social media, thanking fans worldwide for helping the song reach the landmark.

‘Pasoori’ remains the most-streamed song on Spotify for both Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, with nearly 405 million streams.
