The Negeri Sembilan Police Contingent is on standby and ready to be deployed to help ensure the smooth running and safety of the Melaka State Election (PRN) process, should the need arise.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said, however, that so far, they have not received any official notification regarding the need for personnel assistance for the election.
He said the force is prepared to provide assistance involving the deployment of officers and personnel, subject to directives and operational requirements.
“During the previous Negeri Sembilan state election, the Melaka Police Contingent assisted with duties in this state, and we are certainly ready to reciprocate if needed.
“We will provide the necessary cooperation to help ensure safety and public order throughout the election process,” he told Bernama here today.
Alzafny added that, at the same time, safety and public order in Negeri Sembilan would continue to be prioritised to ensure that policing responsibilities in the state are not compromised should assistance be required elsewhere.
The Election Commission (EC) has set polling day for the 16th Melaka State Election for Nov 14, with nomination day on Oct 31 and early voting on Nov 10; the campaign period is set for 14 days.
