Johor Votes on July 11, Negeri Sembilan on Aug 1, EC Announces

Malaysia’s political landscape is set to become more active following the Election Commission’s (EC) official announcement of the polling dates for the 16th state elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.

The announcement was made by EC chairman Ramlan Harun after a special meeting held at the commission’s headquarters in Putrajaya on Friday.

Polling for Johor’s 56 state constituencies has been scheduled for July 11. Nomination Day will be held on June 27, while early voting is set for July 7. Candidates and political parties will have a 14-day campaign period.

For Negeri Sembilan, polling for its 36 state constituencies will take place on Aug 1. Nomination Day has been fixed for July 18, while early voting will be conducted on July 28.

The EC’s announcement ends weeks of speculation over the election dates and sets the stage for intense political campaigning in both states ahead of the polls.
