Schools in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor, as well as Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, are closed today due to worsening haze.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the closure also covers schools in Rompin, Pahang, while schools in Perlis, Perak, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan will continue operating as usual.
She said State Education Departments and District Education Offices had been instructed to monitor air quality and take immediate action if conditions worsen.
Fadhlina acknowledged that school closures could disrupt parents’ daily routines and said future announcements would be made earlier to allow families to prepare.
Affected schools must conduct home-based teaching and learning (PdPR), while teachers and support staff are allowed to work from home during the closure period.
Parents have been advised to follow official updates from their respective schools and education departments.
