Former Speedy Tigers Coach Sarjit Singh Passes Away at 63

Former national men’s hockey team head coach Sarjit Singh has died at the age of 63.

Sarjit died at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Cheras at about 10pm on Sunday, according to the Malaysian Hockey Confederation.

He served as head coach of the Speedy Tigers from March 2024 until March 2026 and had also coached Malaysia’s national junior team from 2004 to 2006.

As a player, Sarjit represented Malaysia from 1982 to 1993. He captained the national junior team at the 1982 Junior World Cup in Kuala Lumpur and later led Malaysia at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.

The Malaysian Hockey Confederation paid tribute to his contributions as both a player and coach.
