UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) will continue fulfilling their responsibilities within the Unity Government until the end of the current parliamentary term, according to UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
He said BN agreed to form the Unity Government together with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the interest of ensuring political stability.
Although BN competed against PH in the Sabah, Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, he stressed that these contests should not be seen as a reason for BN to withdraw from its cooperation within the Unity Government.
Mohamed Khaled Nordin expressed confidence that despite political differences at the state level, both sides could continue to maintain good cooperation at the federal level.
He added that the 16th General Election will be the next crucial point for a major political decision. Until then, there will be no change to the federal-level cooperation between BN and PH.
