Deputy Minister: Local Films Can Strengthen Unity and Social Understanding

The local film industry holds significant potential and should continue to receive support, particularly in empowering creative voices that reflect the realities, values, and aspirations of Malaysian society, says Deputy National Unity Minister Datuk Seri Yuneswaran Ramaraj.

He said creative works rooted in humanitarian values and social realities could serve as a bridge to strengthen unity, celebrate diversity, and build a society with greater mutual understanding.

“Platforms such as filmmaking are crucial in nurturing young talent, strengthening the nation’s creative industry, and creating space for conversations that can foster understanding, empathy and unity among the people,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, Yuneswaran attended the opening ceremony and screening of the F.O.F (Fight or Flight) Short Film Programme, which showcased the creativity, talent, and storytelling capabilities of local filmmakers.

He said the programme successfully highlighted thought-provoking short films addressing social awareness, human emotions, and real-life narratives through meaningful cinematic expression.
