An elderly man who had been reported missing since Sunday was found safe today following a search operation involving multiple agencies.
Jempol Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Jefri Jamal said the victim was found at about noon in a palm oil plantation at FELDA Palong 4 by plantation workers, approximately 3.5 kilometres from the location where he was reported missing.
He said the elderly man was found wandering in the area before being handed over to the police and taken to the Palong Health Clinic for a medical examination.
“Today’s operation involved personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department, the police, members of the public, as well as four K9 tracker dogs from the police and Fire and Rescue Department,” he said.
Earlier reports stated that the elderly man had failed to return home after leaving his house at about 5pm on Sunday.
His motorcycle was later discovered in a palm oil plantation by family members who began searching for him after realising he had not returned home an hour after leaving.
