Two people were killed and another seriously injured in a three-vehicle collision at Batu Tujuh along Jalan Tawar–Kulim early Tuesday morning.
One of the victims was identified as 23-year-old Alina Mohd Shapri, who was travelling from Baling to Kulim in a Perodua Myvi and was reportedly on her way to work.
Baling Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said the second fatality, a male driver of a Proton Saga, has yet to be identified.
“Both victims were trapped inside their vehicles. Firefighters extricated the male victim from the Proton Saga, while members of the public assisted in rescuing the female victim from the Myvi,” he said.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health personnel.
A second male occupant of the Proton Saga suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
