An Indian medical student sat for her NEET-PG examination in tears as her parents remained missing following devastating floods in Nepal.
Tanvi Annamdevara took the three-hour examination on August 30 despite being unable to contact her parents, who were travelling with a 67-member Kailash Yatra group when the floods struck on August 26.
Tanvi said she spent about half of the examination crying and at times struggled to read the questions because of her tears.
She said seeing the photograph on her admit card made the situation even more emotional as the picture had been taken by her father.
“I have to do it for my parents,” Tanvi said, explaining that she believed her father would have wanted her to sit for the examination.
She also recalled her mother’s usual exam-day routine of giving her dahi shakkar, a traditional mixture of curd and sugar, before important examinations.
This time, however, her parents were not there to wish her luck.
Tanvi said her parents, Venkatram Annamdevara and Anagha Annamdevara, were among the 67-member pilgrimage group. Their last known location was around the immigration centre and Friendship Bridge in Nepal.
She continues to hope that her parents and the other members of the group are safe and will return home.
