Malaysia’s seeded shuttlers have received first-round byes for the BWF World Championships in New Delhi from Aug 17-23. Women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah are seeded fifth, while men’s doubles pairs Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani are seeded fourth and sixth respectively. Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun are the 11th seeds, while mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie are seeded 10th.
In the men’s singles, Justin said he is focused on preparing for the World Championships and hopes to deliver a strong performance after working closely with the coaching team. Leong Jun Hao will open his campaign against Brazil’s Jonathan Matias, while women’s singles players Wong Ling Ching and K. Letshanaa will face Peru’s Namie Miyahira and Uganda’s Fadilah Shamika Rafi respectively.
In the doubles events, Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King will meet Vietnam’s Nguyen Dinh Hoang-Tran Dinh Manh in the first round, while Carmen Ting-Ong Xin Yee face Ukraine’s Polina Buhrova-Yevheniia Kantemyr, whom they have beaten twice previously. Mixed doubles pair Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien, who were promoted from the reserve list, will begin their campaign against Thailand’s Ruttanapak Oupthong-Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat.
