Voting for the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election began at 8.00am today, with polling taking place at 401 polling stations across the state.
A total of 859,760 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots. Polling will continue until 6.00pm.
This election sees 103 candidates contesting 36 state seats. Pakatan Harapan (PH) is contesting all 36 constituencies, while Barisan Nasional (BN) is fielding candidates in 25 seats, Bersatu in 24 seats, and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in 11 seats.
A seat-sharing arrangement between BN and PN is also in place in selected constituencies to prevent the Malay vote from being split.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms in several parts of Negeri Sembilan later this afternoon. Voters are advised to plan their journeys and follow the latest weather updates before heading to polling centres.
The Election Commission (EC) expects voter turnout to reach between 72 and 75 per cent. Official election results are expected to be announced before midnight today.
