Pakatan Harapan’s Paloh candidate, Dr Ruban Arumugam, has suspended all campaign activities for the day after suffering severe back pain, believed to be caused by a recurring slipped disc.
In a Facebook post, Dr Ruban said he had been scheduled to visit early voting centres in Kampung Gajah and Kampung Sri Tambak, as well as meet residents in the area. However, he woke up with intense back pain and was advised by doctors to rest to prevent his condition from worsening.
He said the injury was likely triggered by his demanding campaign schedule, which has included daily walkabouts and consecutive engagements since campaigning began.
Dr Ruban said he wanted to explain his absence to avoid disappointing voters who had expected to see him on the campaign trail. He also apologised to his campaign team and residents who had made arrangements to meet him.
