Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will upgrade its Cheras Crematorium Complex to reduce waiting times for bereaved families and improve funeral services for the non-Muslim community.
Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud said the RM45 million (US$10.6 million) project has been approved under Malaysia’s 13th Malaysia Plan (2026–2030), with implementation scheduled under the first development phase in 2026.
The DBKL Crematorium Complex, which has been operating since 1977, is one of Malaysia’s largest public crematorium facilities, handling an average of 5,844 cremations annually.
