186 undocumented migrants detained in late-night raid near Pudu Market

A total of 186 undocumented migrants were detained during a late-night enforcement operation at a building near Pudu Market here.

The Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department said 320 foreign nationals were screened during the operation, which began at 12.05am, with 186 arrested for suspected offences under the Immigration Act 1959/1963.

The offences included overstaying and failing to possess valid travel documents or immigration passes.

Bangladeshis accounted for the largest group of those detained, with 118 men arrested.

They were followed by 28 Indonesians comprising seven men and 21 women, as well as 26 Myanmar nationals, including 13 men and 13 women.

Also detained were five Vietnamese nationals (three men and two women), four Nepalese, two Indians, two Chinese nationals and one Pakistani.

The operation involved 137 officers and personnel from the Immigration Department, the Royal Malaysia Police, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the National Registration Department.

All detainees were taken to Immigration Department depots for further investigation and processing.
