A total of 21 patients were transferred to Jerantut Hospital and Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HoSHAS), Temerloh after a fire broke out in the paediatric ward and women’s ward of Jengka Hospital, last night.
The Pahang State Health Department (JKN Pahang) in a statement today announced that a total of 10 female patients and three child patients were transferred to Jerantut Hospital, while eight child patients were transferred to HoSHAS to continue treatment.
According to the statement, JKN Pahang has coordinated the transfer as a measure to ensure the safety of patients, relatives and staff, in addition to ensuring that the continuity of health services is not affected.
“JKN Pahang has taken appropriate action to ensure the safety of patients, relatives and staff as well as the continuity of health services are not affected and the public is requested not to make any speculation regarding this incident,” according to the statement.
The statement also informed that the fire that occurred at around 7 pm is believed to have started on the roof of the Paediatric Ward, but the exact cause of the incident is still under investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).

JKN Pahang announced that no injuries or deaths were reported in the incident, while the fire was brought under control by JBPM.
“During the incident, the ward housed 11 child patients with 11 relatives, as well as 10 adult female patients,” according to the statement.
Yesterday, Maran district police chief Superintendent Wong Kim Wai announced that part of the ceiling of the Children’s Ward and Women’s Ward of Jengka Hospital caught fire in the incident.
