10 GOF PERSONNEL DETAINED TO ASSIST EXTORTION PROBE

Ten General Operations Force (GOF) personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) were detained last Wednesday to assist investigations into an extortion case at an electronic waste processing factory in Tasik Gelugor, Penang.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (Operations) deputy director Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim said all the personnel involved were stationed at the GOF 2nd Battalion in Kulim, Kedah.

“This is still under investigation for verification. Any officer or personnel involved in any crime, the force’s management will take appropriate action without favouritism,” he told a press conference here today.

He said all were remanded for a day and released on police bail yesterday.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 384 of the Penal Code.
