Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, wife of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, will be laid to rest at Pusara Negara (National Cemetery) in Precinct 20 here today.
The Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) said in a statement that her remains had been taken to As-Syarif Mosque in Seri Kembangan, Selangor for funeral preparations and for the public to pay their last respects.
“Funeral prayers will be held after Asar prayers at the mosque, after which she will be laid to rest at the Pusara Negara, Precinct 20, Putrajaya.
“The government has decided that Tun Dr Siti Hasmah will be accorded the honours of a state funeral,” it said.
JPM said Muslim male visitors are requested to wear a black Baju Melayu with a plain black samping and black songkok, while non-Muslim men may wear a dark lounge suit or other appropriate attire.
Muslim women are requested to wear a dark-coloured baju kurung or long kebaya with a white shawl or headscarf, while non-Muslim women may wear modest dark-coloured attire with a white shawl or other appropriate clothing.
Tun Dr Siti Hasmah died at the National Heart Institute (IJN) this morning at the age of 100.
