The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting on Oct 7 to determine key dates for the 16th Melaka state election.
The meeting follows the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly on Sept 23. The 28-seat assembly was dissolved to pave the way for the state polls.
The EC is expected to set the nomination and polling dates at the meeting. Under the Melaka state constitution, the election must be held within 60 days of the dissolution, meaning polling must take place by Nov 22.
Postal voting applications for eligible voters in Malaysia and overseas have been open since Sept 23.
