India Retain Asian Games Women’s Cricket Gold

India retained the Asian Games women’s cricket gold medal after defeating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final at Korogi Sports Park.

India posted 216 for three after batting first, their highest-ever total in Asian Games women’s cricket. Smriti Mandhana top-scored with 79 off 45 balls, while Shafali Verma made 48 and Richa Ghosh remained unbeaten on 49.

Sri Lanka struggled in the chase and were bowled out for 69 in 15.4 overs. Deepti Sharma took three wickets for six runs as India completed a dominant victory.

The victory gives India back-to-back Asian Games gold medals in women’s cricket, following their title at the Hangzhou Games in 2023.

Mandhana also reached a major milestone during the final, becoming the first woman cricketer to score 11,000 international runs.
