Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir was warmly welcomed by more than 200 supporters upon his arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 last night.
Tuanku Muhriz arrived at about 10.40pm with Tunku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud. Supporters greeted the ruler with chants of “Daulat Tuanku” before he left the airport.
Also present was Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz.
Tuanku Muhriz thanked those who had gathered to welcome him and said he would return to the palace that night.
Asked whether he would work to resolve the ongoing dispute involving the Negeri Sembilan royal institution, he replied, “Yes, insya-Allah.”
The return comes amid a dispute over the validity of an April proclamation concerning Tuanku Muhriz’s position.
The Attorney General’s Chambers said the proclamation dated April 19 was invalid because it did not comply with the mandatory requirements under Article 10 of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution.
The AGC also said the Menteri Besar and State Executive Council do not have unilateral powers to remove or declare vacant the position of Yang Dipertuan Besar.
The Negeri Sembilan Dewan Keadilan dan Undang has also reaffirmed that Tuanku Muhriz remains the state’s legitimate Yang Dipertuan Besar.
