Soldier Claims Trial Over Alleged Assault of 5-Year-Old Daughter

A 40-year-old soldier has claimed trial at the Kota Bharu Sessions Court today over an allegation that he kicked his five-year-old daughter at a restaurant last week.

Mohamed Nisa Mohamed Nasir pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Sessions Court Judge Zulkifli Abdullah.

According to the charge, the accused allegedly assaulted his five-year-old daughter by kicking her at a Thai restaurant in Batu 2, Jalan Kuala Krai, at about 10.55pm on Sept 11.

He was charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a fine of up to RM50,000, imprisonment of up to 20 years, or both, upon conviction.

The court granted bail of RM10,000 with one surety, with conditions including that the accused must not interfere with prosecution witnesses, particularly the alleged victim. His passport was also ordered to be surrendered, and he must report to the nearest police station every two months.

The court fixed Oct 22 for mention of the case
