Young Father Claims Trial Over Alleged Offences Against Store Worker

A 23-year-old storekeeper was charged at the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court today with two offences involving alleged indecent acts against a 19-year-old convenience store worker last month.

Muhammad Haziq Danial Zulkifli, a father of one, pleaded not guilty to both charges before Magistrate S. Punitha and requested a trial.

The first charge, under Section 354 of the Penal Code, alleges that he used force against the woman with the intention of outraging her modesty.

The second charge, under Section 509 of the Penal Code, relates to an alleged act in front of the same woman that was said to have insulted her modesty.

Both offences were allegedly committed at a convenience store in Panorama Lapangan Perdana, Kinta, at about 5.25am on Aug 24.

The court granted the accused bail of RM4,000 for both charges, with one surety, and imposed an additional condition that he must not interfere with the alleged victim.

The court fixed Oct 22 for mention of the case to allow for the appointment of a lawyer and the submission of documents.
