Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) continued its podium success at the Suzuka 1000 GT3 endurance race, with its Pro-Am team finishing runners-up at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan on Sunday.
In a statement today, JMR owner and racer Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim and Pro driver Ben Green all delivered clean stints throughout the six-and-a-half-hour race to secure the Pro-Am podium finish.
The result saw JMR improve on its performance from last year, when it finished third.
Meanwhile, JMR’s Pro team of Scott McLaughlin, Nicky Catsburg and Alexander Sims fought throughout the race to replicate their 2025 podium finish, narrowly missing out on the rostrum in fourth place.
Tunku Abdul Rahman said finishing second in the Pro-Am class was a great achievement and he was incredibly proud of the whole team.
“Our Pro team was very close as well, but finished just off the podium. It’s not the result we wanted, but we’re here to learn, and I’m sure we’ll come back stronger in the future.
“Nonetheless, I’m very proud of everyone involved for making it all happen in 2026. It’s been a great year for us – we had a lot of new challenges and all the races have been tough, but we proved we can give it our all, no matter the situation,” he said in the same statement.
Meanwhile, Tunku Abu Bakar was thrilled that the team had improved on last year’s result by finishing runners-up, describing the achievement as amazing on the 50th anniversary of the Suzuka 1000 race.
