The Sabah-level Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16 has been moved indoors to the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) due to the ongoing haze.
Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said the decision was agreed upon by the State Cabinet to ensure the celebration could proceed safely as planned.
The celebration will begin at 8pm and take place simultaneously with the national-level celebration in Kuching, Sarawak.
The programme will feature dance performances, a Malaysia Madani presentation montage and entertainment by local artistes.
Jafry also encouraged the public, particularly residents of Kota Kinabalu and nearby areas, to attend and take part in the celebration.
Meanwhile, the State Archives is holding an exhibition on the history of Malaysia Day as part of the state’s activities leading up to the celebration
