An Australian man and his two young children were found dead inside a bungalow in Kuta, Bali, on Sunday, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The man was identified as 56-year-old Damien John Shaw from Perth, while the children were a six-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl.
The discovery was made after the children’s mother, who was in Jakarta, became concerned when she lost contact with the family. She had reportedly heard one of the children crying during a phone call before the call was suddenly disconnected.
A neighbour, together with local community officials, later checked the bungalow and discovered the three bodies.
Police are conducting further investigations, including examining the scene and CCTV footage. Autopsies will also be carried out to establish the exact cause of death.
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed that consular assistance is being provided to the family.
